Funeral for a Friend

So a couple days ago, one of my very best friends, who I have previously introduced you to, died. Her name is Zelda. Yes, the hairless rat. Thus, I have not felt up to posting anything. Today Mama and I conducted a funeral service. Attendees were as follows: Myself, Epona, Mama, Harley, and Kassidy (mama's sister).

I forgot to mention that i'm trying to find a new friend to play with. If you know of anyone who wants to play with me at the park every once and awhile, comment this post to let me know okay? I like both little and big dogs! Oh and I am good about sharing my toys too!

Old Pictures

Mama and I were going through some of my older pictures and I thought it would be a good day to share some of them with you guys.

These two are picture of me right before I got my ears cropped. I was about 3 months old

 See that thing on my head? I had to wear those for a long time. It was basically just a bandage wrap over my ears. Having those on trained my ears to stand up like they do now, so I can look more like Great Dane standard. Mom put new wraps on me about every 3 days. I was very patient with these and mama says thats cause I'm a good boy.

These two pictures were taken on my four month birthday!  July 4! I am usually very playful. That is my playing with caramel, mom's friends boxer puppy. She was 6 months old in this picture.

I know, I'm 'cute'. Mama is working on getting some of my baby pictures from my my Great Dane parents. So stay tuned and they may eventually show up on here!

Hiking

Yesterday was a very fun day. Mom took Harley and I hiking! We went up to Spearfish Canyon.

 I took a break for a drink, if only I knew this stream was the end of a waterfall, I would have steered clear. Even though mama would have made me follow anyway...

 This is the first evil falling water thing we saw. Mom made me do scary things like walking through a lot of water and climbing big rocks so that we could get up close to it.

 This is the start of a new trail we found. It was the coolest one we took because there were a lot of smells and different things to look at.

 See we found a Pond that Harley swam in. This is me looking at him like, 'Are you crazy!?'

These were the next waterfalls we saw. They were a lot bigger then the first one so we didn't go up too close.

By the end of the day my legs were black because Harley and I found a really fun swamp thing to run in on the way back!

Cookies!

Guess what! Guess what! Mama, Harley, and I baked cookies today. Dog cookies! They turned out very yummy. Oh and I don't think I've told you about Harley either. Harley is my best friend ever. He is practically my brother. I will tell you more about him another time. Anyway, the treats we made were called Paw Lick'n Chick'n! Mama found a book of doggy bone recipes at the book store and bought it for us. And for that I am glad.

The first thing we had to do was wash our paws, that part is annoying. But then we got to make the dough with all the ingredients. Mom didn't trust me to kneed the dough without eating it so she did it for me, and then she let me try a piece of the dough. Yumm!

The next thing we did was cut the treats out. We made little bones, big bones, labradors, schnauzers, and fire hydrants! 

Then Ma put the treats in the oven for about 35 minutes at 325 degrees after she spread a glaze over the top of them. (She told me I should write that part)

They look good huh?! They are! I'm bringing some of them to work tomorrow to share with my friends! Here is the recipe so you guys can share them with your friends too!

 Dough                                                        Glaze
-3 cups white flour                                       -1 egg
-3/4 cup yellow cornmeal                               -1 tablespoon milk
-1 cup chicken broth
-4 tablespoons softened margarine

Torture!

So here's the thing. I'm really, really good at digging holes in the back yard. So good that I can get the hole all the way down to the foundation of the house! I know, impressive. Anyway, for some reason, mom doesn't like when I dig holes, (secretly, she thinks it's cute, she told me) and sometimes it results in the worst punishment anyone can think of. A BATH!!

 In this picture I was like, "nooo mom please, not the water!" But she did it anyway...

Now this is just wrong. Great Danes do NOT belong in water. And soap? This should be listed as cruel and unusual punishment.

Whoop-dee-do. Don't I look great? NOT!








I will never dig holes again, I will never dig holes again, I will never dig holes again...  (haha yeah right, digging holes is too much fun!)

Rats!

Look! I'm going to show you one of my best friends! Her name is Zelda. And she is a rat. Without hair! Every time I see her I get so excited and mom lets her out to play with me once a day. Sometimes we play, and sometimes we cuddle up together on my bed, i.e. mama's bed. ;)

 I give Zelda kisses and sometimes a tongue bath when she needs it. I have to be really careful around her because she is like an ant and mama doesn't want me to squish her and neither do I.




And see here, this is her by herself. She is a really good friend. But She isn't my best friend because Harley is.
Maybe you guys can come over and be friends with her too but you can't be mean to her. Okay?


Good bye friends. I think I just heard mom put food into my bowl. I better go check because it is morning and i am hungry!

Day at the Park

I love when I get to go to the park. This park is my favorite so far cause there is a lot of room to run and stuff.  There is also a really big water bowl, or lake or something.. who knows what it is.. I get to come here a few times a week, usually when mom and I get done working. 

 Please people, don't confuse this as me about to get in the water. Not in this life time!

 That big dog is Ginger. She is a Great Dane like me but she is a girl. She is not my sister.. mom calls her my "girlfriend". I don't even like her like that because when we play she tramples me and it is so scary I have to hide behind mom.

 I swear, there was something in there! It was taunting me! Maybe it was a frog...

Something that is really funny to do it make mom think i'm going to play fetch with her, and then don't.

Hello World Wide Web. I'm Valor, and I am a Great Dane! I realize I'm still pretty small, but mom says I just grow slow. My full name is Valor Thor Von Morris! Cool huh? I got the 'Von Morris' part from my Great Dane dad. He lives a long way aways though, so I don't see him anymore..

Today, Mom and I went over to Cam's house after we went to the store. It was raining outside all day! I hate rain, so I tried to keep myself inside as much as possible. Here is a picture of me and my mama that we took today:

Yep. That's her, and me! I'm always with her. I even get to go to work with her. She grooms dogs, so I always get to meet new friends. Susan, her boss lady (whom I really, really like cause she gives me human treats a lot!), just got a new puppy and I think she is really fun to play with.

Well, I will talk to you guys tomorrow. It is late and I'm ready to go hog mama's bed.
